This is actively built is a curated research residency that carves out a space for performing artists from the queer community to dialogue, collaborate and create. The artists occupy a shared work space, to rub their practices against one another, and to articulate the questions, challenges, and dreams they have in relation to their work and queerness. The residency's framework itself is a proposal of how queer 'the artist residency', challenging the dominant hierarchical, capitalist art-making structures by proposing forms of collaboration that value autonomy, cross-pollination, and mutual support between artist-artist, and artist-institution.
